Information about eCommunication
Published: 17 November 2020
Finanstilsynet has started using secure and effective electronic communication, eCommunication. Altinn is used for digital mail for self-employed persons and other undertakings with an organisation number, while a digital mailbox is used for individuals and units with national identity numbers.
Enterprises
Enterprises under supervision will hereafter receive mail from Finanstilsynet in Altinn.
Enterprises that receive mail in Altinn will get notifications sent to their contact point. Entities registered in the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities should always have an updated electronic address provided by the entity.
To ensure that the mail reaches the right person in the enterprise, roles and rights in Altinn must be set up correctly. Each enterprise is responsible for setting up rights and roles.

- Take control of access management in your Altinn inbox (in Norwegian only)

Enterprises registered in the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities cannot opt out of receiving notifications in Altinn.
Private individuals and entities not registered in the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities
Private individuals and entities not registered in the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities can hereafter receive mail in a digital mailbox for citizens. Individuals who receive mail in a digital mailbox will get notifications sent to their contact point. The contact point is retrieved from the register for digital contact information and reservations.
Finanstilsynet encourages its recipients to establish a digital mailbox if this has not already been done.
You can read more about how to select a mailbox and update your contact information in the Contact and Reservation Register here:
Private individuals and entities not registered in the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities may opt out of receiving electronic messages from public authorities. These will receive mail on paper.
