Consumer information
Here you will find useful information for customers of institutions supervised by Finanstilsynet. Finanstilsynet supervises financial activities in Norway, which includes making sure that consumer interests are safeguarded.
What does Finanstilsynet do for consumers?
Pursuant to the Financial Supervision Act, Finanstilsynet is required to ensure that all institutions it supervises attend to consumer interests and rights in their activities.
Questions about loans, interest rates and other aspects of customer relationships in banks and other financial institutions
Finanstilsynet receives a number of enquiries from customers of financial institutions about fixed-rate loan agreements, timing of interest rate adjustments, financial advice and other aspects of their customer relationship.
It is not within Finanstilsynet’s remit to consider individual issues between the customer and the bank / financial institution. If you have questions concerning your loans, interest rates or other aspects of your customer relationship, you need to contact the relevant bank / financial institution.
Guarantee schemes
In Norway, customer interests are safeguarded through a number of guarantee schemes.
