Reminder: Notification threshold for shares lowered to 0.1% from 1 August 2023

Finanstilsynet issues a reminder for market participants that Delegated Commission Regulation (EU) 2022/27, which lowers the threshold for reporting net short positions in shares from 0.2% to 0.1%, was incorporated into Norwegian law with effect from 1 August 2023.

From 1 August 2023 onwards, position holders must report when their net short positions in shares exceed or are equal to 0.1% of the issued share capital and each 0.1% above that. This also applies to net short positions above the new threshold which were established before 1 August 2023.

Practical reporting examples are set out in the statement on the new notification threshold issued by ESMA in January 2022. The principles of the statement will be applied accordingly by Finanstilsynet.
