Supervision
Published: 23 January 2024
The supervision of AIFMs aims to ensure that the institutions operate in an appropriate and proper manner in accordance with legislation.
What is supervision?
Supervision shall ensure that the undertakings operate in a manner whereby the overriding goal of effective, orderly and reliable markets for financial instruments is met. Supervision covers all aspects of the authorised activities, including the undertaking’s financial position and compliance with the statutory requirements for how the business shall be run.
As part of its supervisory activities, Finanstilsynet conducts on-site inspections. During an on-site inspection, the undertaking’s operations are thoroughly reviewed, including its control systems, risk exposure and capital needs. On-site inspections may cover the entire business or target specific risk areas. AIFMs are required to report to Finanstilsynet. Reporting from AIFMs is used as a basis for assessing risk in the individual undertakings.
